I have a BB1200, but it's always been a bit of a mystery to me that it actually came from the factory equipped with the same additional bridge pickup as a BB2000 (I'm certainly not complaining- the bridge pu rocks).

Yamaha's "BB" designation was for "Broad Bass" (whatever that means), but to me it was always for "Beautiful Bass" as Andrew said... the aesthetics and craftmanship on the neck-thru Yamahas from this era are just all around beautiful!

Here's a fairly recent video of Paul playing his BB1200 for the auction to Benefit Music Rising:

He sold this bass at auction back in Dec. '21 for a record $496,100!!

Like many of us, I am a huge Paul Fan but that $$ for a bass that is not his legacy is crazy.

Looking for info on these basses I've looped back to this thread!
Here's my BB1200 based on pics I believe it's from the same year as Carmine's!

My ‘77 BB1200 is almost identical to Carmine’s, with the bridge pickup.

Look at that, another one!
I bet these BB1200 with two pickups sound amazing.
