After information only
Hi guys i was wondering if anyone here would know anything about a Framus bass. I have one here that someone painted and am trying to find out the exact color it was originally. It is a 62 violin bass just like the a Beatles Hofner. I cant find any pictures of one to see what color they came in but they painted this one red. I'd appreciate any help finding out what it should look like. Thanks guys.

Hi Grant,
The folks at Warwick/Framus are super helpful- I’d suggest reaching out to them. I know Andy Irvine has a Framus Bass too FYI. I asked a lot of questions about my Fortress, and they were super cool.

In the topsy-turvy world of heavy rock, having a good solid piece of wood in your hand is often useful...

Re: After information only
I'd expect a sun/tobacco burst.
If you're in a position to strip it down, are there any remains of original finish to be found?

I owned 3 different model Framus basses in the mid 60's all 3 were sunburst. I don't remember seeing anty that weren't back then.
Re: After information only
According to the guy that painted it red the original color was some sort of mustard color
