My Ric (1978) is a 4001.

When did the 4001 become a 4003, and what are the main differences?


BTW, here's a shot of the control cavity when I pulled out the original pups 2 or 3 years ago--first time I ever pulled off the pickguard.

From what I've been able to find, the biggest difference is in the truss rod. Shhhhh, don't tell my 4001: it'll warp just to make a point.
