sx basses
Re: sx basses
FWIW, I haven't played many MIM lefty fender's, but I can say I think the SX's are good value. i have played a couple of lefty's and a few righty's and was amazed at the bang for the buck.
Haven't found one that didn't need the intonation done. All the necks looked good n' straight. Action varied wildly from instument to instrument, but nothing a good setup wouldn't cure.
The knobbies felt cheap - whadda you expect? - but the pickps had good output. Electronics weren't noisy either.
Hope that helps!

Re: sx basses
Considering that Fender just raised MIM prices to$600+, according to another thread on this website, SX's are certainly a good axe to consider, and a lot of good things have been said about them at Talkbass as well.
for the price, they're certainly worth considering.

I've got 4 MIMs and 5 SXs, the QC is better on the Fender but both need set-up.
