For Sale: Roscoe LG3000 fretless.

Hi all,

For your consideration is a Roscoe LG3000 fretless. This is an older model with the 2 band EQ Bartolini pre. I looked into upgrading to the newer 3 band preamp and they're about $125, plus whatever it takes to install it. Not sure of the year of the bass. It has a flame maple top and Spanish Cedar body with a burgundy/red stain. This was a fretless conversion that has had the "Jaco treatment" applied. The luthier who did the work for me claims to have done some of Jaco's bass work back in the day (in Fort Lauderdale, Jaco's home town, where I live part of the time). He put in maple lines and then made a form around the fingerboard and then poured in epoxy. Once it had cured he then removed the form and milled the epoxy down to the original radius of the fingerboard. It was then buffed to a high gloss. Looks like a Pedulla board. The bass has some minor cosmetic issues, but has mwah for days. I'm going 5 string only or I'd keep it. Fantastic little neck on these things. The case is a Roscoe form fitting case showing signs of age but still functional.

$1,500 OBO Plus shipping from Florida

these are KILLER basses -and dont let the 2 band foolya - in combo with the pickup blend, you can get a lot of options - i have an older 2 band fretless 5 and a newer fretless 6 with the 3 band and i actually like the 2 band better -
somebody grab a great bass! roscoes rule

...I second this. Roscoe basses are very nice. This guy is also a very god guy. I have done a lot of communication with him. Hey Mark.... Jim here. The guy that used to own the Roscoe SKB 5 string and Pedulla Fretless bass. Good luck on your sale, man. :D

Mark,
do you still have the bass for sale?

May I ask who did your fretless conversion?

I am interested in your instrument.

I am a lefty bassist and I live in South Florida, so if I was to buy it I would probably come down and pick it up.

Price is a little high for me, so I would like to know if you would consider a cash offer?

Thanks very much,

ZiggyB

Hey Ziggy,

I believe the fellow's name was Jeff Marpole. He has since moved to Nashville and I've lost touch with him. I just did a google search and had no luck. This is what happens when you move all over the continent in a two year period. You lose stuff. :| Anyway, there are a few other people doing this epoxy fingerboard work in the country that I'm aware of. Check out this site as an example:

Yes it's still for sale and yes, as it says, OBO. So please, offer away. I'm in Key Largo right now but will be back up in Lauderdale for a couple of weeks starting the 2nd of March. You can PM me with your personal contact info and I'll give you a call.

Cheers,

Mark

Sorry gents, now off the market. Decided to hang onto it for the time being and do some further tweaking.

I think I'm more impressed with the custom fitted case! Beautiful bass by the way... As soon as the trillion dollar bail-out money kick-starts the economy, we'll all have enough money to start a bidding war on your Roscoe the next time you put it up... 8-)

Hi there. I joined the forum recently (check out some details in my Greetings from Northampton, UK thread) and while browsing round the forum noticed this item for sale. Looks like I got here too late, but thought I'd ask anyway - would you still be willing to sell it?

Andy

Certainly will. Won't be until sometime in August though due to various commitments on both sides. Can't wait though.....Aauughhh!

While I'm on the phone, thought I'd mention a thread that was running recently on Basschat about coating fretless boards. Is this the right place to talk about it or should I post a thread in the Leftorium?

A thread about coating a fretless board would go in the Blueprinting and Bondo forum. Rod will have some suggestions I'm sure.

Received earlier this week, but unfortunately not had the energy to do anything with it yet. Hoping to get to it this weekend - if the flu follows the standard pattern we should be getting a little more like normal by then. I'm aware there's a couple of reviews to do, and I haven't forgotten them... ;)

Hi Andy, looking forward to your review on this bass, and any other you want to catch up on... but Godspeed on your recovery first, so you have the energy to dig into the bass, wring it out, put it up wet, and let us know what you really think about this beautiful bass. I hope it plays and sounds twice as good as it looks!

Aloha....
