These basses have gotten a lot of good reviews for being so inexpensive. I'd kind of like to check out a 5 string Jazz at some point.

those basses look really nice!

Please let us know what you think. My son has been playing bass for about a year and is ready for an upgrade. I would like to know if they are worth the money.

Fortunately (or unfortunately depending on your view) he is right handed.

Add me to the list. I went with the maple board natural 4-string. If they are as good a they look, I might go for a 5-string next.

Also, I inquired with Sire about delivery and was told that the basses are arriving in the US 7/15. By the time they go through customs and all, they should ship to us from California around 7/18.

Very nice looking basses, with some great bells and whistles. If Marcus is endorsing them, they must be well built. Just curious though, not seeing weight listed on any of the spec sheets; please mention that in your reviews guys... thanks!

I inquired about weight: they said the 5s are around 10 lb, and 4s around 9 lb, but they can't weigh a specific bass before shipping. . .

Nice deals, but what has me baffled is why they would use '60s pickup spacing instead of '70s, this being a Marcus Miller type bass.

It's a review by someone with an endorsement though. In my opinion, those are the last people whose reviews you should trust. That being said, I haven't heard a bad word on these otherwise, and there are tons of YouTube demos which show they are really solid and good sounding basses.

Mine shipped today. Waiting on the UPS tracking # to kick in, but I'm hoping I have it before my next gig Saturday.

Can't wait to hear about it!

Hi guys & gals,

So, just got my V7 today and had time to play for a few minutes. Not much time today, so let me summarize quickly the good and bad:

Good

- great bag and great looking bass.
- finish is flawless.
- it was tuned when I got it.
- the EQ offers a very wide range of frequencies. From the 5 basses I owe, this is the only one that shakes the windows when bass pot is on max, even though the amp volume is low. It is just that it reaches bass frequencies my other basses do not. This is true for the treble and mid knobs as well.
- This bass is made to slap and lives for funk. Without even plugging it you can hear the highs pop-out. I think it truly excels for slap and pop.
- Glossy neck : you like or you don't.


Bad

- a tad heavy.
- I get background noise with the pup selection pot. Not when in the middle position (both pups) but as soon as I choose one or the other I get noise. Otherwise dead quiet for other pots.
- action is low so the G string is very close to the body. Hence, not much space to put your finger to pop, takes a bit a getting used to.

So in conclusion: great array of sounds, well finished, attractive bass, best for pop and slap and - at least for me - worth the money I paid for it. Fun to play!

I received mine yesterday. I'll hold off on posting a full review until I've fully gotten my feet wet on it, but so far I have to say there are a few troubling things about mine that I hope to resolve with some tweaking, most noticeably excessive fret buzz.
