Wow!
The seller states that the weight is 7lb 9oz!

I was the one who asked the weight. I've got my eye on this one. I'm sure I'm not alone in that...

Neck looks legit. Fender decal (Pat.) does not. Missing part of the patent codes.

Could be an aftermarket decal. Worth taking the risk unless it goes up to 1600+

What the seller didn't tell you...

The reason it's only 7.5 lbs is because there's a hole routed out underneath the pickguard big enough for your very own hot tub.

F Bass BN5 • ZON Legacy Elite 5 • ZON Sonus Elite 5 Fretless • ZON Sonus BG5 • Fender Custom Shop '64 NOS Jazz • Fender Custom Shop '75 NOS Jazz • Fender ADE Precision • Music Man SR4

I've found that these hidden routs can be a good place to stash shattered dreams.

I wouldn't mind the extra route if there were pics of how good/bad/ugly it was done and the seller expected a slightly lower price because of it. Not the sort of thing you forget to mention.

 ... I was just joking. I have no idea what it looks like under there.

But 7.5 lbs seems awfully light to me. Light enough to be a little suspect.

My 75 P, just like this one, is my lightest bass.

On the other hand Andrew, maybe you also can get $1000 off like he did!

Actually I have a '73 that's similarly light. There seems to be lighter examples from the early-mid 70's.

Haha, you got me! I messaged the seller and asked if there was routing under the guard and they seemed offended I asked.

And re-listed and re-sold to me for $810. I THINK I owned the exact bass (not this year and model) as my "go to" on stage model in the 80s. Proper tuning keys were on it then. But the pattern of paint loss seems VERY familiar.

Not 100%, but I do think I owned this in the 80s after inspecting it. Wear patterns and vintage strap lock buttons feel very familiar.

SO light. My lightest 70s Fender bass.

No routing hole.

My 78 Olympic White P is the heaviest by far, the 75 Jazzes (two) fall in between the two Ps.

Gotta' track down some legit 70s tuning pegs.

Exactly as advertised. A nicely worn player.
