just ordered an SX...

Post by baalroo »

Well, my truss rod on my neck-through carvin has gone kaput and my luthier is gonna have to remove the fretboard and replace the truss rod. He's qouting me aprox. $250 and 2-3 weeks (to order parts and do the work). I don't have the time or the money for that, so I've ordered the SX SPJ-65. I figure for a $110 it can't be all bad.

I just got this guy in today, and as objectively as I can be with my new toy I'd say it's a keeper. I really am surprised at the solidity of the build, nice tight neck pocket and a good solid "heft" to the overall feel. I'm certain I'll be comfortable flinging this thing around on stage. I especially like the neck, nice and beefy... just the way I like'em. I do have to say the pickguard is junk, you can scrape the top layer back with your fingernail and after jammin' around on the thing with a pick for about 5 minutes I've already got some permanent pick marks in the guard. Austinleftybass, where did you get the replacement guard for yours and what did it cost you?
