Interesting how they've made the worn cherry with the jack above the tone knob. That's how mine is too. Other finishes have jack under the tone knob. Funny.

My understanding is that the jack placement was a "QA error," not intentional. Jimmy at Southpaw "fixed" all his before shipping.

I got the first or second one he shipped out... before he 'fixed' them. And now I do recall he called me and asked if I wanted it switched. I guess I have a collectors item!

I love mine! So if a short scale SG bass is your thang then go for it, you won't be disappointed.

Ah! Thanks for that info. . . I'm a fan of the sound of Gibson basses, but I don't think I would ever be happy playing one because of the ergonomics. I'm a big supporter of basses with long upper horns, so a bass that has the strap button by the neck is an absolute no-no for me. I have a Rogue Beatle bass copy that I keep because it cost me $250, but I can't play it live without wanting to smash it into piece.

Well, the Gibson EB's and SG basses has no problem with balance because of the shorter neck, the long scale Epi Eb3 (like the one in the video) sounds very well for its price, but dives like a Stukas.

Yep, the short scale reduced the neckdive issue. My SG sits perfectly.
Also the bass Allen Woody is playing in the vid is the Gibson EB-3L, the longscale version of the EB-3 and they could be a bit "divey". Funny thing is that they actually sound a bit better due to the different pickup position (IMO) combined with the longer scale it was not a 'muddy' as the EBs that had the humbucker right at the end of the fretboard.
The Epiphone Allen Woody 'Rumblekat' signature bass is shortscale (30")
