Sadowsky Vintage J5
Sadowsky Vintage J5
Clearing out basses for new stuff. I'm selling my 2009 Sadowsky NYC Vintage J5 string bass. The bass is in perfect playing condition and has been my primary studio bass for the past 4 years. The bass has been well cared for by me and has been routinely maintained by a luthier here in Nashville. I've used this bass on hundreds of studio sessions so most of it's life with me, has been in the studio. The bass has been used live as well (obviously!!) but has not suffered any road wear. There are some surface scratches in the finish but they can easily be buffed out. No dings or deep gouges or chips in the finish and almost zero fret wear. The bass will ship in the original Sadowsky portacase. $3350.00 plus shipping.

If this was posted a month ago, I would be ulcer free and a Sadowsky owner right now.
Man, my timing sucks.

Re: Sadowsky Vintage J5
Thank you Andrew. I really appreciate that. It'll probably be up here for awhile guys and there is some wiggle in the price-not a lot, but some!
It really is a great instrument. Sadowsky's stand on their own in terms of playability and tone. There is not one dead spot on this bass-nor on any Sadowsky that I know of. Every note comes out crystal clear and the tone is authoritative- which can sometimes get you into a bit of trouble if your technique is not 100% on-believe me, I know!
All in all, it's a tremendous sounding instrument and plays equally well.

As a Sadowsky fan boy, this makes me weak at the knees. But I'm fighting with full string spacing at the bridge on 5-strings. . . Even considering selling my own Sadowsky to get something that fits my hand better, but I love Sadowsky so much.. .
This is all very emotional. I can't stop crying.
Re: Sadowsky Vintage J5
LOL!!! I'm sorry man! Didn't mean to upset you!
The string spacing on the sadowsky's is actually what I love about them (that and all the other stuff!) It's primarily the same spacing as a Fender 4 string. I've tried a ton of 5 string basses before getting my Sadowsky and found all of them to be uncomfortable in that respect. Being that the spacing on the Sadowsky's is so close to Fender spacing, I can go from my 4 string Fenders to my 5 string Sadowsky's without having to watch my left hand in fear of hitting the wrong string or winding up in between them!
But all that is personal preference. Some guys like that spacing and some guys don't.

I have really short fingers. Look:

Although I play my Sadowsky quite often and it doesn't give me any fatigue, when I switch over to my StingRay 5 (17.5 mm string spacing) it feels SO much faster. But the Sadowsky sound and ownership satisfaction keeps me from selling it. When I strap on my Sadowsky, I feel like I have total control of the room and I'm the sexiest man alive. "P.A. subwoofers: Be mine!" "Girl with big boobs: Come to me after you are done with the frontman!"
I actually never played a J5. . . I've had three different 5-24s and a J4, but never have had the chance of trying a J5. Until now. . .

I'd honestly jump on this in a friggin' HEARTBEAT but I literally just committed to some other crazy idea... and I'm going to stick with it for something awesome and different.
Seriously though... if this would have come up a month ago, it would literally be mine right now. If what I'm working on doesn't work out and this is still available, I'll definitely hit you up.

You do know that you can order a 19 or 18mm string spacing bridge for existing NYC 5-strings, do you
? The same goes for 4-strings, but for them it's 20 or 19mm. Tal has 19mm.
