Ive never seen that pickgaurd configuration before or a split head stock in the 70s?
Even the head stock tussrod cover is upside for a lefty
But the back cavity is ok.

Those are two pickguards. Seems like a legit lefty, probably someone (righthanded) has played it and had the (not) brilliant idea of putting an extra pickguard on..

I did. Took a flier on it.
The second pick guard gave me slight pause. As did the bridge/tail piece, but I saw the same tailpiece on a '66 SG today at GC Hollywood, so...
About 10 years ago, I bought a slotted headstock lefty on ebay, took it to a repair shop in Hollywood and they closed up shop and vanished and I never saw it again.
I don't think this is the same one, as the one I bought has a major neck repair. We'll see when it arrives.
Somehow, getting one of the '13 lefty SG basses from Jimmy at Southpaw got me wanting a vintage one again.

It arrived and was a pleasant surprise. No neck damage/repair, condition as described or slightly better.
Years of flatwounds were good to the frets.
Bought a bridge cover on ebay and it's off to my guitar guys for set-up.

Looking forward to your impressions and thoughts about this bass once you get it back, and start spending time with it....

The neck is slimmer than the SG bass (2013) I got from southpaw. Much more like a T-bird, but short scale. For sure, it's that classic "Mudbucker" sound. I want to play Sabbath covers when I'm holding it. Truss rod was a little tweaked, but Performance Guitar worked it out, along with the bridge alignment. Got a replacement bridge cover off ebay. Won't ever be the the day-to-day stage bass, but glad I have it.
