Takamine EGB2S Acoustic Bass

Post by Matt R. »

Hey guys, after some serious streamlining of my bass arsenal, I have ended up with 2 basses recently. This is one of them. I've been eyeballing the Takamine basses for a while, and haven't really heard anything bad about them. The price is good too. I had recently gotten a Martin ABG that was a converted righty, but the conversion left the bass with terrible intonation on the E string, so I just returned it.
Anyway, I just got the Takamine and am really impressed with the build quality, looks, finish etc. Plays and sounds GREAT.
My only (tiny) complaints are that the rosewood fingerboard was pretty damn dry, but 2 quick treatments of lemon oil fixed that right up. Also, the strings felt 'old', but I had planned on changing them anyway. But really, this thing was ready to gig out of the box.

Congrats on the bass! I got to play that one some at Southpaw Guitars. I really like that one too, and it is a great bass for the money, and honestly a great bass overall. I was going to buy that one for Christmas before I happened upon the Martin and a generous person to purchase it for me.
