Alder body w/70s pickup spacing
Slim taper maple/rosewood neck
Fender String tree, bridge (70s RI), and strap buttons
CTS Pots, switchcraft jack and orange drop caps. I wired this concentric setup without resistors, which were on the vintage Fender Jazz Basses.
Lindy Fralin Pickups (not the over wound ones). I had a set of cream pickup covers, so I stashed the stock black ones.
Custom "Warmoth" headstock logo, based on the 70s style Fender logo. I clearcoated the logo.
Schaller tuners.

Weight is about 9lbs. Great balance.

Guys, if you've never tried the slim taper option on a Warmoth neck, it's worth the upcharge if you dig a slim Jazz style neck. Just a great playing neck and the bass over all sounds phenomenal. Can't wait to gig with it this week.

Wow! Did they build that for you or did you do it yourself from Warmoth parts?

I did all the assembly and setup. I'm not sure if Warmoth even does that. (?) It's really not difficult to do, it's just meticulous and time consuming. I enjoy it.

Thanks man. Didn't require much skill on my part. All I had to do that did require skill (minimally) was apply the decal and properly clear coat the peghead.

You did not mention that but I assume it is a short-scale bass, right?

No it's 34" scale.

Oh cool! That's a design usually associated with short scales. I guess it should pretty much sound like a 70's jazz. And all this without using the over-used JB design yet keeping a classic look. I personally think the 70's spacing has much more punch and clarity and I don't know why it has not remained the standard. You have a good taste for instruments sir!

Ha, thanks man! Basically I somewhat modeled this after my Fender Jaguar bass (those are long scale too), which was also candy apple red w/ matching headstock. That was a good solid bass but I couldn't connect with it, so I sold it.
Needless to say I was excited to see Warmoth offering this body style, so I formulated my build pretty quickly.

That looks simply stunning! Love the rosewood block neck. Nice deep dark chocolate rosewood. Where'd you find the pickguard?

Pickguard is from Warmoth too.

I second this. The Warmoth slim custom necks are worth the up charge. They feel great. Get the graphite rod and it will be a great light neck.

Yes I have the graphite as well. Not a dead spot to be had, and much lighter than their steel reinforced necks (which still rule).
