Talked to Rod the other day. He's neck deep in a big project for his day job and trying to get his new place settled by night. See: burning candle at both ends.
I'm sure he'll resurface soon.

thanks for checking - I appreciate it
I've been averaging 75 hour work weeks for my day-job since mid-May, and I somehow managed to get my shop moved to a new facility in the evenings and what little time I had on the weekends (yes - the shop is all set-up and has even been ever so slightly used this past week!!) I'm working a project wrap-up with a key customer this week, was on-site for project kick-offs at two key customers the previous two weeks, bounced thru Amsterdam, Paris, Montreal, Detroit, Wichita, and Memphis the first part of June, and did a trip out to Philly and Savannah just before that.
I am sooooooooo looking forward to hitting the shop this weekend for my first full day of working on basses in what seems like eternity. I have 10 customer builds running at the moment, and it's absolutely killing me that I have no way to work on them without fear of trashing a build (or doing myself physical harm with a tool) in my tiredness
you should see some lefty build action images posting up next week. I'm really looking forward to putting the final touches on the Axiom 4 and VRB5 fretless (that their owners have been ever so patiently waiting for)
all the best,
R

Would that Axiom be natural finish?

And is that VRB5 fretless also a natural finish by any chance?

Rod is riding in his own personal Tour De France marathon.
Be sure to take a day or two off to REGENERATE before you attempt to injure yourself with those power tools.

today is the first official day that the shop is up and running.
I'm taking a 1-1/2 week absence from my day-job at the end of Aug so I can get caught-up on all the builds that were stalled during the shop relocation. completed basses begin shipping the first part of Sept as they are completed in order of deposit
all the best,
R

YEA - my unending summer travel marathon has finally come to and end!!! After more than 59,000 "butt-in-seat" miles (all domestic US with one r/t exception) since the last week of May, I am finally finished with my day-job 'roadshow tour'! I am soo looking forward to working from the home office these coming weeks where I can make my way out to the shop immediately after work
I anticipated a month of delay to move the shop. I did NOT anticipate that taking a new day-job position would be so overloading and require such an extrodinary amount of business travel. Ugh - I am now quite behind on several builds and will be catching-up in the coming couple of weeks. Worst part of all this is that I usually learned on a Friday morning that I'd be on the road for two additional weeks beginning that Sun AM ... this after being assured that the mission was completed and that I could plan to work from home the following week or two
That's now in the rear view mirror

time to get a fingerboard epoxied
all the best,
R
