I built this bass in 1999 and traded it for a lefty Warwick Thumb neckthru.
It's wired as two separate outputs so I can run each neck to two different
amps. Twas heavy, swamp ash, maple/maple.

Re: Doubleneck
I've entertained buying an 8 string for a while now, (Not a stacked 8 but a 4 + octave strings), but I realize it's a niche instrument that I wouldn't use very often and every time I hear samples of them I don't hear anything I haven't been able to achieve with my EH POG. I have, however, been wondering about how one might be able to build an 8 string bass with a stereo split of the octaves, such that you could have separate outs for your 4 lower bass strings and 4 octave up strings. This, I would definitely have a need for. Anybody ever seen that done before? I've tried to visualize how it would be done, and the only solution I can come up with would be a bridge consisting of 8 separate saddles with 4 of them being piezos. Question is, how would it all fit in a standard 4 saddle bridge plate? the only thing I can think of is two saddles per single intonation screw each on opposite sides of the screw, which, when all assembled, would somehow manage to stay out of the way of each other AND offer accurate intonation. ?:

Yeah, that would be difficult even with piezos because you can't stop bleed-through. But it would be cool to run the octave strings through a separate effect. BTW, I tuned that eight-string in fifths except for the E string which I did in the octave. It was actually neck heavy and dove on me.

Re: Doubleneck
This is what it looked like when playing it.... truly a beast. Think I'll make another one.
