Hey guys. I am seriously considering an inexpensive upright. I have been playing bass for 23 years now but I have never ventured into the realm of the acoustic upright.
This is the bass i'm looking at:

Would it be worth it to get something like this or do you think at this price point I'd have more problems than it's worth? Thanks!

Full sized uprights are a real pain to move around. You want to look for a 3/4 size.
Re: Any double bassists on here? Advice please
How much smaller would it be?

Gosh, I don't know, I'm only parroting what I've read elsewhere. I do remember that folks complain about not being able to get a full sied UB into their cars, or being able to lug it around town on a subway. i wasn't able to dredge anything up with a quick Google, but I'm sure the info is out there somewhere.
Also I noted that it has steel strings. I've never seen an UB with steel's, only nylons and in rare(?maybe?) cases flatwounds.
Last diss I have about this bass is the acrylic finish on the top. Wouldn't that kill the tone?
Ah well, what do I know, I've only dicked around with righty UB's.

$169 shipping charge is painful - just to the depot.
Add $78 residential delivery and viola: $247 shipping + $399 bass = $646.
Ouch!

ya, shipping via freight sucks. However I remember that is in line with what it costs to ship Englehart UB's. All this was discussed in another LB thread, but don't ask me where that is!LefThanDed wrote:$169 shipping charge is painful - just to the depot.
