Lefty Fender V Jazz or P

Hi, I'm curious about the different versions available of the JBV.

On ebay there is a Japan made Jazz Bass 5. I just tried in store the right-hand version (American Vintage) I think. I was impressed by the low B BUT, I noticed that the strings are going thru the body on the American but not on the Japanese model.

Anyone has some thoughts or experience with these two versions ?
