Best way to make a safe cross country trade?

There's a guy on Facebook who is interested in trading for my Squire Classic Vibe P in Arizona (I would be getting a Squire Jazzmaster in return). Any suggestions for how to make a safe transaction? (Years ago, I recall using a 3rd party company that would collect the items and release them upon approval, but I can't recall the name of them).

Wouldn't two purchase transactions via Paypal cost just about the same?
