I found a brand-new Modulus Genesis 5...

Alder body, Black gloss finish, Carbon Fiber with Maple, Chechen board, 35" Scale, Bartolini p'ups, Aguilar OBP-3 Pre, Black hardware, Modulus case.

MSRP was $4200

Sale price is $1900!!!

For whatever reason this bass is listed in this guy's closeout department, even though he has other ones selling for the regular price... I called him and asked him what the deal was, and he just said it wasn't moving so he's selling it at a loss. I guess he's had it sitting around for over a year now.

I've read that these basses are discontinued now... anyone know why?

I'm hesitant to jump on this one for some reason. Something is keeping me from pulling the trigger, but I can't place my finger on it.

Anyway, I have it on 24 hour hold... if I don't do it and someone else is dying for it, I'll let y'all in on where to get it.

Should I do it? has anyone played one?

Could you get it with a 48 hour approval period?

I'm going to find out tomorrow... I'm hoping he'll at least give me a few days to check it out where I could return it if I hated it, minus shipping, etc.

If there's one thing that sucks about being us, is that we hardly ever get to play anything before we buy it.

There's not a ton of information out there on these things... and I'm kind of looking for something that can "take a beating" so to speak, since I gig so much... both of my Laklands are developing their mojo a little too fast.

Hmmm... maybe I'll try to sleep tonight (yeah right!) and see if I can't work some deal with this guy tomorrow.

It turns out that it had an electronics problem that I had to fix myself because Modulus literally didn't return any of my messages.

It was honestly a killer bass... but a really rare Custom Shop Fender came up for grabs and I sold the modulus to a super cool dude in NJ for a few hundred less than what I paid for it only a few months after buying it.



I'm glad I have the Fender... cuz it's the best 4-string I've ever owned... but, I do honestly miss the Genesis sometimes.
