Lefty Mode Mobile Chrome Extension - Need Your Help
Hey fellow lefties,
I am working on a chrome extension for mobile users called "Lefty Mode" that will move UI elements on a website (hamburger menus, upvote buttons, etc) to be reached more easily by people holding their phone with their left hand. I've put together a brief survey regarding mobile phone habits and I would love it if y'all could help me out. The survey is anonymous and the results will not be made public.

Thanks y'all!

Thanks paulo and Jeroen! I just need a few more responses before I can start synthesizing the results, is there anyone else who can spare a few minutes to fill it out?

Thanks guys for all your help! Fivebass52, were you saying the survey itself was a bit generic, or your answers? (Both opinions are helpful to my project)

It's specific enough until the question "Do you ever have problems reaching buttons or parts of your screen on you device"? I answered No, simply because I use both hands. A follow-up question asking why would allow people to answer why they selected yes, or no...reynoldbot wrote:Thanks guys for all your help! forget the specific sentence, but the question "does this impact your ability to use your phone"?, which I answered no to, could also use a follow-up question as to why it does, or doesn't impact left hand usage (again, because I use two hands....)
Because I use two hands, additional software to change usage doesn't apply, and Im used to the button layout on my phone, so no need there...
As lefties, we've all learned to adapt in a right hand world... at times, a minor inconvenience, but not a major concern... good luck with your survey!

I answered yes, and did get the follow-up questionfivebass52 wrote:It's specific enough until the question "Do you ever have problems reaching buttons or parts of your screen on you device"? My problem there is not being left-handed though, but struggling with reaching the top navigation buttons with my thumb when using my huge 5.8" screen one-handed
That's mostly how I feel about this too, but I'm intrigued nevertheless, and would love to try out a lefty mod!fivebass52 wrote:As lefties, we've all learned to adapt in a right hand world... at times, a minor inconvenience, but not a major concern...

Thanks for the feedback - as Jeroen mentioned, I did branch the survey to include more follow-up questions for people who answered yes to those questions, but I agree I could have pursued more information for people who answered "no". My only defense is that I had an extremely short amount of time to put the survey together and send it out, and once it was out I couldn't make changes without invalidating earlier responses. I'll keep these things in mind the next time I have to draft a user survey. Thanks again!
Once I have a working prototype I might throw it up here as a follow-up!
