since this specific lefty is a Heritage Plus series, it's a more modern neck profile - 1-7/8" wide at the zero-fret and .80" thick at the first fret with a 16"R fretboard. it's also 2.562" wide and .922" thick at the 12th fret

it's the same contours as the white bass, and that one is very, very comfy to play and has a B that speaks with authority

the pickguard arrived this afternoon, and the thickness matches the polished stainless control plate perfectly



just waiting on my Hipshot Ultralight tuners (clover keys) to arrive (any day now) and I'll slot the nut and get this one set-up and ready to roll

It's hard to tell whether I like bass with or without the bridge cover. Would you mind taking a recent shot with the cover? I may prefer the bass without it but would like to see with cover just for the heck of it. Let's get a mini-consensus going....

I prefer not to utilize a pickup cover plate since they just get in the way when playing, but they're also available as an option if somebody had to have one

You know, it's a tough call, but I like the bridge cover. The bass has a retro look to it anyway, so I'd take the cover. It's a great looking bass either way. Great job!

The cover ups the vintage vibe that much more. Is the bridge/body strings through?

yes - this bridge is string-thru like the original Tele P's were ... but unlike the original bridge, this dual saddle version allows each saddle to swivel so that it's possible to obtain accurate intonation for both strings on a saddle vs. finding a compromise position that is relatively close for the string pair

I'll shoot a couple close-ups when I receive the tuners and have this strung up and ready to roll

here's a look at the finished bass




finished weight: right on the button at 8.5 pounds

all that remains is to have the future owner decide whether they prefer a Dunlop strap lock or a vintage style buttom

currently strung with a fresh set of DR Lo-Riders, this bass sonically is growly, grindy, ballsy, and in your face like the original Tele P's when strung up with a set of rounds. there's even response across all the strings and up/down the neck. the action is currently set incredibly low, and can always be raised higher for those who prefer a more traditional string height set-up

I should have this introductory priced and listed for sale in the next couple of days. should anyone want to reserve this before it goes up for sale, feel welcome to drop me a PM or e-mail

that's a special LeftyBassist introductory price on this first unit, and below my actual cost for parts and materials.

regular pricing for this model will be $1695. this should hold into 2010 unless there are tangeble price increases from my suppliers forcing me to set a higher direct price.

p.s. I haven't forgotten about the review of the Axiom by the way Andrew, but various pressures have meant that time to do it is at a premium (with apologies). It will be done, probably a little nearer Christmas when things ease up a little.
