Woohoo! It's all back together and playing nicely. Just have to do some very minor tweaks to the setup and the bridge pickup alignment but it's all easy stuff. The new frets are amazing and the Barden pickups.... well ho-lee-cow! First thing is, they are almost dead silent. Like, so silent that you can't believe it's a Ric. BUT, you still sound like you're playing a Ric for sure. I'm not very good at describing "harmonic content" etc... but these sound like - at least to my ears - a Ric on steroids without all the hum.

Anyway, here's a VERY quick and dirty sound sample I did using a simple Focusrite Scarlett 2i2 with a signal from my Fender Super Bassman DI. For the first four sound samples I was using the vintage channel on the amp set pretty much flat. The fifth one I just wanted to have some fun, and used the OD channel.
1st pass - Both pickups full on, modern circuit
2nd pass - Neck pickup only
3rd pass - Bridge pickup only, modern circuit
4th pass - Both pickups full on, vintage circuit
5th pass - Bridge pickup only, vintage circuit, Yes wankery.

Here it is: https://soundcloud.com/eggie/ric-tones

And here's a couple of pics of the thing all done.

very sweet indeed

EDIT: forgot to mention that the SB300 does a spectacular job of bring Ric's to life. My bandmates freak when I haul out the SB300 + neo610 + V63 :)

Is that an off-the-shelf Pickguardian pickguard? Or did Tony work some mojo?

Hey Pete. I tried matching the old pickguard up with all of the Ric templates that Tony had and none of them quite worked. I had to send him my old one - taped together from 6 pieces, with one piece missing - so he could do a new one. Worked out beautifully though.

He also did the new neck pickup surround out of mirrored plexi. I ditched the old one - which was all bent anyway - and find this much more comfortable.

Good to know. I think I'll just send mine as well. I think the white pearloid will look nice on my blue bass.
