I had a Jazz Bass with a Badass bridge and some D'Addario Chromes and I felt the highs were too bristling and just too bright. When I put the old bent bridge back I was like: "here is the real vintage flatwound sound!"
Those bridges also add a good amount of sustain which is nice in some situations but you don't need that with flats since you seek a more thumpy sound with a shorter decay. I am not saying they are bad bridges by any means, in fact I used to love them, but for a guy who plays mostly reggae like i do, it just does not work.
I also noticed the same unpleasant zingy tone when playing with a pick and using those bridges BTW.
I think Matt R does not like those bridges either.

I've never had a badass bridge or any "upgraded" bridge for that matter. Only experience is with the various stock Fender bridges on various P's & J's. And, like you, too much sustain is something I have to combat sometimes. I know it's subjective and my personal style and tastes have everything to do with it but there's no way in h%ll I'm upgrading a bridge if more sustain is a consequence.

I love Badass II bridges. Put them on all my Fender basses, and even have one on one of my Regenerate basses.

For all the activist types- Just for the hell of it, I built a lefty and righty of the same model and they are both the same price, so apparently no lefty up charge, unless they are just overcharging righties to make it appear so

Haha, yes I'll have to hit a local coffee joint in the meantime.
By the way, Fender's order confirmation says it'll ship within 48 hours. So I'm not sure what the real deal is. I suspect that may be their standard spiel on their receipts and that 90 days is the correct time frame.

But still, playin with my delivery dates is like playin with my emotions, Smokey.

I am intrigued by the pickup selection, I have never seen those Jazz Bass '64 and the PBass '63 before.
They did a really good job on the lefty Jazz Bass Fender logo. I love it.

My favorite Jazz Bass in terms of look would be Vintage White with rosewood block inlays but I always prefer the sound and feel of a Maple neck. And we've been waiting for those lefty maple neck forever!

Matt, did you have to pay in full up front, or a deposit?

BTW, the photo makes it look like it has a matching headstock (Now THAT would be an awesome option, wouldn't it?), while other cyber creations posted here have the more traditional tinted maple look. I'm assuming you went with the '64 neck? I'm wondering if there truly is a discrepancy between the appearances of the maple color on the various choices. I personally prefer a tinted look, though on yours if the headstock truly were as bleached as that it would be great since it gives off the illusion of a matching headstock, but if you look at the back of the neck cyber renderings none of the necks look particularly "tinty".
