I realized the big overall picture was missing.

Sound clips is not going to happen for the time being, I don´t have the means or the time to make some at the moment.

Insane! In a good way. Is it heavy?

I like your other basses as well. The fanned fretted is waycool.

Beautiful! I'm guessing you etched the fret markers into the stainless?

No etching, I very lightly scratched them in with a scriber and a angle ruler, afterwards sanded the fingerboard down with Scotch-brite.

These are things of beauty.
I hate to imagine how much one would cost to order though.

Why pay thousands for a custom bass, when you can just buil your own? Well, at least THIS guy can! :)

That's one of the two main reasons I started building. :D
The other is: lack of any left handed choice when you are looking for something new, the solution for me was "I'll make them the way I want myself".

I hate to disappoint you, I don't build for money, I've got a job I like to pay the bills and finance my hobby's.

It to took somewhere in the neighborhood of 65 hours to build and in parts and materials I spent around 550 Euro's.

Fantastic building skills.

I've been to the website and am amazed at the line up of basses.

Hope you find time to give them some play-time. :ugeek:

A week ago I finally decided to make a shim, I just could not get the string low enough to my liking.
I took a white plastic plate with a thickness of two millimeters and cut it exactly in the shape of the neck-pocket, now the strings can go as low as I want them.

And this is how the fingerboard looks after two months of almost daily playing for a least an hour.

The scratches you see are not real scratches, but where the string touches the fingerboard the stainless steel becomes extra shiny, you can see them but can not feel them.

It's a successful project, the bass almost plays itself and the the sound is exactly as I expected.
Now I need to leave it in the rack more and continue with the next build.
