I always favor a 1.75"-wide nut, but I have small hands. The measurement at the heel it's also important. I think around 2.85" or 2.90" should be nice. I know that a full 3.00" at the heel is a bit wide for me at least, like a Sadowsky. But a 1.875"-wide nut is very standard in most 5-strings.
