I've been in contact with the guy who took care of the right handed bird project, it was the same thing with them, 3 steps forward 2 steps back, but in the end everybody was more than satisfied with the bass and if you look on TLBO (on a more than 100 page thread) you'll see that a lot of people are buying a second (or third) bird now.

Yeah, I read the whole thread today. It seems that a lot of the problem at the beginning had to do with there being no NR T-birds in the inventory. So there was a long development phase and then BaCH had no idea that they would be so popular and didn't plan for the level of production numbers that were ultimately requested. Then the there were issues with establishing affordable shipping arrangements (especially for USA). But everything eventually got worked out and things went relatively smooth.

I think we are in a bit of the same boat but I am hoping we won't have to go through quite as much "growing pains" for our orders. I noticed that there are lefty NR T-birds listed in their inventory and the design and hardware specs are all worked out for the right handed NRs, BaCH just has to 'flip' the design and we should be golden (hopefully :D).

Would you say this is a fair synopsis iome?

Yeah, i'd say so. When they first get started it should go smooth.
I've heard they're plannig to make the lefty version anyway, but the price will, obviously, be much higher ones they are in production. We are getting it for a really good price with this custom order, in my opinion.

Well, i'm not a seller and are getting nothing from this project, i'm only hanging on to it because i've had one of these basses in right handed version and, imho, it's a steal for the price.
It just pisses me of that we're giving a small factory the chance to sell twenty and more basses before they even build them and they just don't care, thats not a good way to handle business in my opinion. Anyway, i'm going to give them another call to see if i can get an answer....

I know man, and I'm really appreciating the effort and the trouble you're going through to get this done. To such a small company, building a small run of these basses should mean nothing. The hardware is identical, it's just the woodwork and the pickguard that are different (roughly) so it shouldn't be much extra effort building a mirrorred version.

Don't get discouraged iome, I'm sure most of us very much appreciate the effort you're going thru and realize that we can't slay the messenger. I do however agree with Jeroen- this seems like it shouldn't be that big a deal considering this is a company that supposedly already does other lefty basses (although they never have those in stock either when I email them  ). Right now none of us have any money put down, so we're no worse off than when we started. Once there's money involved, folks are likely to be a lot less patient and understanding about Bach's lack of response/ urgency...

What's the expression? "Money talks and BS walks, or something along those lines?"

I almost feel that had money been plunked down at the start, there'd be more of an incentive on their part to actually take these orders seriously and we'd at least have some leverage, though that has it's own share of issues as well. (case in point: I put down a deposit for my Bongo when they were first announced being available lefty, and was told I'd have mine in 2-3 weeks. It turned into 7 months).

Somewhat off-topic - and it is a righty instrument - but watching this clip of a NON-reverse T-bird in action made me think of this thread so I thought I'd share it. It's almost bass porn, the live shots are so good for players and gear nuts to look at. The song rocks too.

BTW the band are Japanese living legends "Go! Go! 7188" who have been playing stuff like this in their homeland for 10 years or something. They rarely go abroad however.
