I contacted the seller about the weight and he replied: "15 pounds, give or take one pound"

if a guy doesn't know Maple from his Ash, how can you expect him to know what something weighs?

I had one of the 60's versions of this bass for a week or so. They're HEAVY, but not 15 lbs.

15 pounds sounds like the guy is just throwing a number out there he thinks sounds right, not the actual weight.
