They're Korean made and better than average Korean instruments, IMO.

Here's a righty bass from a company I hadn't heard of before. The company is Old Kraftsman Guitars (www.oldkraftsman.com). I asked and they said they'll make both the single and doublecut bass in a lefty version. I suspect these are coming out of the same factory making the budget Hofer stuff. $499 list on both basses. Not bad.

I think that's a copy of a Fraumus bass from the 60s. If they are made by the same company as the budget Hofners it should be an excellent bass for the money, although the pickups can be noisy. Still, as long as they are cheap (which was the whole point of the originals including old Hofners) I am a big fan of this style of instrument too. FWIW, I used to have a righty 63 T-Bird. Same body config, but the headstock was reversed. I found that combination to be really comfortable to play. The knobs never got in the way. All things being equal, I think the same would apply to this bass if mike would make a reversed headstock.andrew wrote:Lull:

I am such a sucker for neck-through basses .....
After hearing folks play his righties through a Shuttle 3.0 and a tiny 10 inch Genz-Benz cab I was sold.
BTW, anybody know the model of that cab? It's a killer little practice set-up.
