Man, am I glad I'm not a righty these days...

Or I'd be broke!!!

Well, I already am broke, but you know what I mean...

The TB "For Sale" forum is just SEETHING with some ridiculously good deals on some spectacular righty basses... I just saw a pre-Gibson Tobias 6-string in fantastic shape on there for $1500.... and it just sat there for a week until the guy finally sold it on eBay.

There was another listing for a one-of-a-kind jet-black Roscoe SKB3006 with an ebony board (now a $1000 upcharge) in MINT condition for $2400... it's been sitting there for over TWO MONTHS with no takers.

There are like 5 or 6 lisitngs for MTD 5'ers on there right now... for about half of what they cost new.

Maybe it's like this all the time and I just haven't spent that much time there before, but wow... I'm glad I'm not a righty, or I'd be screwed!!!

The down side to this is when you see a nice lefty then you HAVE to buy it !

It ain't so bad being a lefty ( with cash ) these days. I've switched a lot of my focus to guitars from basses and have scored some many sweet deals in the last few months.
Sadly, I'm now out of cash until after the holidays. But fear not! This recession will provide us with many more bargains to come in the months ahead.

Just out of curiosity, are the majority of people on this board musical instrument dealers? People here seem to buy and sell equipment lots....

For me, a lot of that is the lefty curse.

I don't get to go to a store and try stuff out, so I literally have to buy stuff in order to figure out if I even like it.

It sucks... you have to spend a lot of money and sometimes take losses to find what you're looking for.

And once you start to get into the "high-end" market, it can be a pretty big gamble dropping several tohusand dollars for something you might not even like.

Not me, I'm just a G.A.S.-aholic with disposable income and a very understanding wife.

Do you get to use it all? It's definitely good to have an aresenal if you're gigging and recording a lot I should think.

As far as I know, no one here is an instrument dealer.

Me too it is a GAS-thing because I use about 4 out of the nearly 25 basses I had this year.

I'm under 20 I think now and I wish to bring it down even more but my list of basses I wanna play is getting bigger at the same time.

I'm solely a new instrument builder with a dedicated interested in lefty basses

I will take on an occasional customization/repair job when a proposed project peaks my interest, but these are few and far between these days as I'd rather prototype a new bass design than fix somebody else's design flaws

all the best,

I guess you are a lefty bass player.

Whouppi!!!

We found ourselves a lefty bass builder and repair guy. Unless we do our own set-ups or rely on a comprehensive and ultra competent luthier, most of them can't do a proper job on our instruments 'cause of strings reversed. Especially on a 5 strings bass IMO.
You may have found a great path here ;)

LOL

You remember that ?

I will, but so far I dig that bass with flats on it very much. I actually use it on tv gigs sometimes.
I'm happy I did get a real vintage "Fender" from the 60'ths that actually can be played.
