Lefty 5-string Ibanez Musician

Post by Jeroen »

I always thought there had never been a 5-string Ibanez Musician, let alone a lefthanded version. But yesterday evening, my guitarist sent me this picture and I almost fell out of my chair:

I guess that would make it an MC925L. It does look like a photoshop though, with these weird uneven neck laminates and the funny curve in the B-string on the headstock. But if this were real, I'd sure as hell want one! Thought I'd share ;)

Hmm. Well it's certainly not a picture of a real bass, as it does look Photoshopped, and it's certainly not a vintage Musician either, but that's not to say that Ibanez isn't putting out a 5 string Musician now. They've already released their MC30TH to commemorate the 30th anniversary of the Musician line, and judging by the headstock on this one, looks to be a possible reissue model. Still, I'd ask your guitarist where he got the picture and/or confirm with Ibanez, since they suck about letting anyone know exactly what they've actually produced:

Wow!
That would be so cool (if it were real)!

It is indeed a photoshop, and my guitarist made it
I had replied to his email with something like 'Hm, it looks a bit photoshopped, the bridge looks funny, the neck laminates look funny and the B-string above the nut looks funny'. He replied with 'Hey, don't diss MY photoshop skills!'

Peter, you're right, this isn't based on a picture of the original 1978-1981 MC924. It is based on a real bass though: There briefly was a reissue in 1995 or 1996 with those closed pickup covers and control knobs, and pearloid tuner knobs. Aside from those details, it was based on the early eighties-version of the MC924. But there was no lefthanded version.
