As you may recall, I had a used bursty G&L L2000 from GC for a brief moment, until I noted the difficulty with getting the wrench into the truss rod nut. I didn't have the time to deal with any possible neck issues, so back it went. Funny thing, I was browsing the Sweetwater scratch and dent sale a day or so later, and found another one
This one was a bit more than I wanted to spend (as well as a bit hefty), but they knocked a good chunk off it, and so home it came. It's apparently an ex-demo bass, but the finish was virtually flawless, and the cosmetic issues they highlighted were non-issues to me. I like the swirly grain on the top, and the back looks great too. Another funny thing, within a few days of purchasing it, a pic on my Facebook feed from 10 years ago popped up- with my old natural L2000. I like this one a lot more- electronics are whisper quiet, and neck feels great. This one has the cherry fingerboard rather than the rosewood on my old one, prob due to the whole CITES kerfuffle. It looks somewhat darker now (compared to the stock pics i posted) after a bit of care and feeding, and I really like it.
Now then, knowing we have a big bunch of G&L owners on this forum, I want to pick your brains. I know it's a very individual thing, but what does your setup look like? I'm thinking neck relief, string height, and especially pickup height, as the MFD's are monsters. I think I have the neck and string height somewhat decent (close to my usual "Fender" settings), but I need a bit of guidance on the pickups. Lots of folks on the G&L forums seem to back them off a lot, but don't actually say what "a-lot" equates to. I'm also re-learning to actually use the knobs on this one
