The preamp in my 99 SR5 died, and there appears to be no direct replacement for the 3 coil stock pickup. Much less left handed (the prramps from this era are on a pcb, so orientation matters).
So I know its a longshot, but if anyone has a preamp laying around, I'd gladly pay handsomely for it.

Re: EBMM SR5 Preamp
Have you tried contacting Ernie Ball? They may sell direct. I’ve gotten pickguards from them. Not a long shot that they would sell you a preamp. Hope it works out man!

Thanks Matt. I have chatted with Ernie Ball and they've been helpful. Unfortunately, they haven't built pre's like this for a while and don't even have access to the parts to build one. And so far, all the third parties I've talked to don't support the three coil p/u. So if I can't get it figured out, I may have to de-Sting my Stingray. Wouldn't be the worst thing in the world, I'm kinda curious what a Nordy or East may sound like, but would like it to be on my own termsMatt R. wrote:Have you tried contacting Ernie Ball? Did it just cease working alltogether? I wonder if there could be some electronics expert out there who can fix your current pre? There's not that much in there, the difficulty is in everything being pcb-mount and very tiny.

I agree, there's a Geek out there somewhere who could probably replace whatever is not functioning on the PCB board... but, a schematic would need to be supplied, with parts, and tolerances, that could be evaluated through a meter, oscilloscope, etc... whether Ernie Ball would be willing to part with that info is the Big Question....Jeroen wrote:Did it just cease working alltogether? Re: EBMM SR5 Preamp
I got a call from the tech today who has been working on it. He's been working with EB directly to troubleshoot, and he believes he's figured it out. He told me not to pop the cork yet, but he thinks he can save it! Fingers crossed.
I'd always heard EB wasn't very responsive, but so far they've been great working with my tech to make this happen. More to come!
Happy new year everyone!
