My Rickenbacker collection
A few of my Rickenbacker basses...
Most are still mine but some have moved on to greater bass players!
Re: My basses and guitars
Hi Peter, and thanks for sharing. Great collection. I've drooled over your site many times and we've actually had some email contact about some of the Rics you were selling somewhere in January, I believe. You had, among others, two 2008 model 4003's for sale that I was very strongly interested in.
Your collection is well worth a topic of its own

Now i know why there are very few lefty Ric's on the market. They're all in this collection!
Fab collection BTW.

I have some fireglo and mapleglo basses left if you need one, Jeroen.Jeroen wrote: You had, among others, two 2008 model 4003's for sale that I was very strongly interested in.

Thanks, I'll keep that in mind, but I've already bought a new 2008 4003 at guitarguitar.co.uk in January at a very good price (1516 Pounds) that'll keep me going for a decent while
Re: My Rickenbacker collection
Hey guys, I split the Ricky posts into their own thread so they're easier to see.

Yes, their prices are stunning. I bought their last 4003jg a few weeks ago, their retail was lower than Rosetti's 'new' trade price.Jeroen wrote:Thanks, I'll keep that in mind, but I've already bought a new 2008 4003 at guitarguitar.co.uk in January at a very good price (1516 Pounds) that'll keep me going for a decent while

Re: My Rickenbacker collection
There were only ever two lefty 4005 4 string basses made, one is fireglo and is thought to be in Japan, this is the other. The sound is big and bassy on the neck pickup and very 4001'ish on the bridge pickup. It is much lighter than you would think.

How cool! Now that would be something I wish they would put back into production - just long enough for me to buy one of course
Re: My Rickenbacker collection
Reviving the 4005 gets brought up often on the Rick forums but apparently they would be VERY expensive now, so Rickenbacker doesn't see a market for them.Agent00Soul wrote:How cool! Now that would be something I wish they would put back into production - just long enough for me to buy one of course

I don't think the bass was ever much of a money maker, at least not after the late 60s. But it's lovely!andrew wrote:Reviving the 4005 gets brought up often on the Rick forums but apparently they would be VERY expensive now, so Rickenbacker doesn't see a market for them.
Re: My Rickenbacker collection
I agree, the 4005 is a real looker.

Re: My Rickenbacker collection
Hmm..I guess I've played your bass then. At a guitar show here in the early 90s, Scott Jennings had a 4005MG-LH.Leftyguitars wrote:There were only ever two lefty 4005 4 string basses made, one is fireglo and is thought to be in Japan, this is the other. Yes, It's the same one Ronn, I think the show was Arlington in 1989.AustinLeftyBass wrote:

Re: My Rickenbacker collection
Beautiful collection, man, superb.
Could you explain which are your favorites, and why, for studio & stage ? What about the rap that McCartney and Greg Lake gave them back in the 70's ? They both - one lefty, one righty - said they had chronic problems with neck warping.

Re: My Rickenbacker collection
If I could only keep one bass without any doubt it would be the 1971 21 fretter, if I could keep two the second would be an early fireglo v63. I have three 1972 models and all are really nice. The 4005 plays and sounds exceptionally well and is the most unusual out of the collection. The 5 stringers are good fun to play if you can get away with the narrow string spacing. The necks on all the early basses are fine as long as the truss rods have been adjusted properly from day one and care is taken on string choice.
Re: My Rickenbacker collection
Hi All.
I just joined up and the first thread I go to is this one ...!!
Amazing to see all those Rickenbacker leftys lined up
Q: Re the warping of the necks. If this problem is present can it be fixed?
