ESP LTD AP-5

Post by Smo »

Hi all! It’s here!

Specs:

It’s a Esp Ltd AP-5 in Pelham blue. 34 inch scale. Alder body and a maple neck. Macassar ebony fingerboard with 21 frets. I think the string spacing is 19mm. Emg active electronics vol/bal/tone configuration. Grover tuners and babicz fch-5 bridge. This thing weighs 4,3kg people.

Ordered from a local dealer. 1,5 months waiting time to get one.

I’ve been eying these things for a while and finally pulled the trigger. It’s a impressive bass for the price. Classic looks with modern hardware. Love it!

A couple of odd things when I got it: The string tree screws were all f***ed up straight from the box and there was a wire trapped under the pickguard so that there was a bump in the pickguard. Put the wire back in the cavity and leveled the guard with a hair dryer. Odd stuff that would make sense on a harley benton don’t you think? I added some extra foam under the p pickup so it wont move under my thumb.

Electronics are neat and tidy to me and the neck pocket is tight. The neck has a satin finish to it. Sustain on mine is ridiculous! Oiled up the fretboard and I was ready to go!

I recommend this bass anyone looking for a good player under a grand. :)

Added some photos. (Sorry for low quality. We dont get much sunlight here in Finland this time of year. :D ) As usual the metallic color is hard to capture. Its really impressive in person.

In the topsy-turvy world of heavy rock, having a good solid piece of wood in your hand is often useful...

Thanks all! Yeah feeling the Frank Bello vibe for sure! After few days with this bass Im even happier with it. I guess one just connects with some instruments better than others.

BTW. If someone is interested in CS Warwick Thumb NT5 send me a message. Since shipping rosewood/bubinga overseas is easier now Im more active in selling my thumb.
