Schecter Riot-4 Bass Left-handed - Aurora Burst
Do you love this bass or hate it? I'm undecided.

I like the Riot shape, and would happily play a Riot Deluxe with neck-through or a Riot Session, but I hate those beveled bodies with a veneer that stops where the bevel begins. I also hate it on anything by Kiesel, where it appears to be the new standard look.

I'm not into modern style designs. Fender guy. That said the matching headstock is a nice addition. I would think the beveled body might be uncomfortable tp play for long periods. Too many sharp edges.

Yeah, Ibanez got in on that game, too. I guess someone came up with it and it was eye-catching and a little different so everyone else jumped on board.Jeroen wrote:I hate those beveled bodies with a veneer that stops where the bevel begins.
I never cared for it, either. However, I do like a nice big arm contour.

I like the idea generally, but I don't like the wide bottom end look of a lot of those Schecters. But the finish and beveling look great to me. If it were a slimmer shape I would be all for it.

When I was 25 I would have liked it, but at 55 years old it's a no for me.

I was in my local Sam Ash yesterday and they had the guitar version in the same finish, I will say this as manufactures now make tons of the same looking guitar it stood out. Still not for me but I could see someone who wanted to make a statement on stage playing one of these.

I do like everything except the body veneer. The shape makes a lot more visual sense if you see all of it as the headstock matches the body well. The main body wood looks really nice with a polished grey marble mood - there was no need to hide it (unless there are joint lines of a multi-part body under there).
