NBD - Lefty Kiesel Vader VB5

Post by Ronin614 »

So my Vader finally arrived yesterday. :D

Here are the specs:
- Walnut body with one piece maple neck
- Black ebony fretboard with no inlays
- 5 string
- 34” scale
- Luminlay side markers
- Humbuckers
- Push/pull active/passive
- Stacked Bass/treble
- Stacked mid boost/cut with sweep
- Strung righty
- Obviously headless
- Overall length is 38 1/4 (guitar size)

I weighs in at exactly 8 pounds!!! It’s going to take a little while to adjust to the aircraft carrier width of the neck  , but I guess that happens when you shift from a four string to a five. It’s a really comfortable depth front to back.
The controls are really solid, and the build, from what I can tell so far, is top notch.

The hybrid gigbag is very solid. The padding is about an inch thick.

I’m really happy with it!!! My wife even likes it! And I have to admit, she was right when she talked me out of getting the neon pink finish. (That’ll be on my next one. )

Now I just have to get my skills to the level that this bass deserves.

And a few more....

I’ve included the box to illustrate why I like FedEx. Ground shipped from California to NY, and not even a scuff!!! Unlike UPS, which has delivered bass boxes to my house with holes punched in them, boot prints and even tire tracks.

Thanks for the kind words all. It turned out as well as I hoped, and, to be honest, better than I expected. :D

Thanks. All credit for the finish goes to my wife; left to my own devices, it would have been neon pink.

That would have been epic!

It's cool that Kiesel has a reversed-stringing option. Did you have to contact them for that, or is it available on the website?

Sorry for the REALLY late response. Apparently I haven’t been on here in a while.

If I ever get to the point that I can justify buying another Kiesel, it will be another headless in the most obnoxious neon pink that I can find. :D Especially since I already have a classy one.

I had to call them to have the reverse stringing done. I thought that there might be an issue with it, but Kiesel is extremely lefty friendly. In fact, the guy who took my order said that he plays the same way.
