Oooooh! johntheleftybassist is not going to be happy that you found this before he did!

Awesome score! Are you going to replace the jack with a stereo jack?

Nah. I never used the stereo thing on any of the other ones I owned.

Me too man. It’s a little more off the beaten path I think.

The regular 4003 does, but the 4003S is a slightly stripped down version without the triangular inlays and bindings and with rounded body edges. I think the S version is prettier, and more comfortable too.

Looks great Matt! I love these in Midnight Blue.

Yep it’s sort of a cool hybrid of the older 4001 models & modern 4003 models.

Fun fact:

I managed to damage the coil on the bridge pickup the other day (after a whopping 2 days of ownership) while installing a treble bezel on this bass. So now, since there’s no warranty coverage for being a dumbass, the pickup is currently on the way to Lindy Fralin to be re-wound.

Yeah it’s annoying. I have to laugh at myself. Not even sure how exactly I did it. It’s an easy installation that I’ve done several times with no problem. Oh well.

Turns out, the pickup is fine. It wasn't grounded properly

Sorry for the confusion, just wanted to be transparent since I'm selling.

This bass is for sale here if anyone is interested:
