actually while he never used them live jaco had atleast one 5 string i can think of off the top of my head it was a custom made acoustic bass guitar dont know the exact specs of it but im sure you can find a picture of him playing it somewhere on the net

I always thought Fenders were overpriced, I do like the fact that they bring some classic models back like the 62' P Bass, but still, Fender should lower their prices all around. My Grandpa told me his 1966 P Bass cost him like 500 or something, and it's in a "custom color" (Teal Green). Maybe it'll be cheaper If we build one our own?

I never understood the appeal of these pre-aged Fenders. When they introduced the "Relic" Custom Shop series 10 years ago I laughed and laughed. Who would want to buy a new expensive instrument that looks like that I thought. In their PR material at the time, they even boasted on how their luthiers would craft these amazing instruments and then whack them with belt buckles and spill acid on them. HAHAHA! But how wrong I was!! Now they have introduced the process into mass-production with the "Road-Worn" series.
Personally, I like the idea of buying something - new or old - that's nice and clean and trying to keep it that way. But at least the inevitable dings, bumps etc will be caused on my watch and can be worn like a badge of honor. IMHO natch.....

exactly, If I were to buy a Precision, I would like it to have my own wear and tear because then it'll be special you know? if i'm buying a reissue, I'd rather it not be reliced in any way.
