WHAT A RIPOFF

Post by Grant »

I went on the website for Haight Guitar Center in San Francisco and placed an order for three Rickenbacker 05901 locking strap bolts (basically 3 screws with knurled heads about 1.5 inches long) and was quoted $114.13 US$ just for the shipping to Australia OMG for 3 little screws.

Also went to Pick of the Ricks and no stock. On ebay Gelb Music want $25 US$ per screw to ship to Australia.

I would shoot Gelb a message via eBay and ask if they can work something out. I seriously doubt their actual cost to ship would change from one screw to three.

If they won't budge, buy one screw and leave them shit feedback

I have contacted Gelb through ebay and it seem that ebay have taken control of all shipping and they were unaware of the problem and ebay blocks you from passing on your email address so i will try to email them directly.

There are several bass players in the San Francisco/Bay Area that might be willing to do this... can't imagine three screws in a small shipping mailer or priority box being too expensive to mail out...
R&B Stretch Bass, Walter Woods 1000w Green-Light Stereo Amp, AccuGroove El Whappo and TR112, assorted axes, amps, cabs...

Do you want the strap buttons, or the knurled bolts that adjust the mute? 'Cause, if you want the locking strap buttons, I'm pretty sure those are part no. 05904, and are made to work with Schaller strap locks. Have you tried getting them directly from Rickenbacker? On their Boutique page, 3rd page under 'Miscellaneous'. If that won't work, I'm sure something can be arranged... ;)

I do need the 05901 but Rickenbacker are out of stock.

I need 3 of the 05901 bolt strap locks and 1 of the black switch toggle bat 03568 so if someone can get them for me and ship them to Australia I would be happy to send payment to them. @screambasses I would be very much appreciated to take you up on your offer.
