1977 Greco RB-700

Three years ago I found this uber-rare lefty 1977 Greco RB-700 in a local store; after playing it, I couldn’t leave the store without it. However, things change and I’m now thinning the herd.

Made in Japan in April 1977 at the Fuji-gen factory. It’s all original with one small exception — one of the saddle adjustment screws has been replaced. Comes with original hardcase. Maple-body neck-thru, rosewood fretboard, single truss rod, mono output, checkered binding. It weighs 9.0 lbs. on my bathroom scale.

You can read about the quality of 70’s Grecos online; this bass certainly lives up to that hype regarding construction quality, materials, and tone.

Cosmetically, it has some dings and light scratches, but overall it’s in pretty good shape considering its age. The most notable dings are on the bass-side of the neck near the 3rd fret, which I don’t feel at all when playing, and a “thumb-wear” spot right behind the bridge pickup surround (presumably where a previous owner rested their thumb while playing). It also has the infamous bridge tailpiece lift that some Ric basses have. I've included pics of these. Also, the tuners hold the bass in tune very well, but they're a bit sticky and rough when turning.

Neck appears to be straight and the truss rod turns easily. Electronics work flawlessly. Frets have good life left.

This is a fantastic bass of exceptional quality. I paid $877 (w/ tax) for it. I'm asking $800 firm shipped to CONUS.
