FEELER: 1978 FENDER PRECISION BASS (All Original)
This is a feeler. I need to thin my herd a little and move some out of the stable. A few have gone but I don't collect anymore and just planning to keep what I play and gig.
Here we have a collector bass to me that came from a deceased man's collection. I purchased it from his father whom told me the guy had a LOT of vintage guitars and collected. He was the second owner of the bass. It could pass as a wall model now in a bass boutique store. It shows it was well taken care of and rarely played. I put a thin veneer of peel off plastic on the pickguard so it doesn't get scratched. It can be removed with ease. Check the grain figuring and match.. This is absolutely killer!!
1978 Fender P Bass (All Original/Stock)
Natural Finish (this has got to be the best grain match I have seen come out of the Fender factory)
Black Pickguard
Aggressive HOT pickup
Harnass, tuners, knobs and bridge
Perfect cut nut and straight string alignment
Ashtrays (x2)
Solid Maple Neck/Maple fingerboard (straight neck with truss rod turning freely and not maxed out)
Knobs, Strap pins thumbrest
Excellent condition frets
Bass with both ashtrays weighs at 10lbs 4oz on my digital scale
* Case is a righty case but period correct. I did not get the original case with it and refused to ship without a case. I will give my 70's case with this bass shown in pics.
The only visible marks I can see is the small finish chip on the back of the neck and a tiny, tiny indention on the side and small headstock mark (all seen in pics). It has been stored in my collection for years. I could have had my luthier fill it but am leaving it alone. It doesn't effect playability.
This is a perfect example of a GREAT 78 P bass. It sounds like an active bass. NO photo edits done to the pics and taken from my phone. This might be going up on Reverb in a while depending on how I feel with the sale but offered it here first to my community.
$2200 Shipped Lower48 only. Again this is a feeler and I am watching the market and appears these are and will be going up in value. 1 year shy of a 40 year old basses in this condition LEFTY are RARE. I refuse to sell to anyone that would strip and part out. This is a great bass that should stay as original piece.
** I can send a zip file of pics if people are seriously interested. Private message me... thanks for looking.

That's so weird. I only wrote the first two lines of my comment above. The third line looks like someone replying to me, but somehow it wound up part of my comment.
