Hohner B2A

Post by Bassaria »

Hey folks-
Here's a Hohner B2A.....kinda.
I grabbed this on impulse this fall at the Philly guitar show. Was looking for the 5 string version but this was there.....in the meantime I found the 5er. So this is gone.
The good, the bad, the ugly;
Cosmetically this is really clean. Neck is smooth and the body is pretty ding free.
Frets are in great shape.
Pickups are the EMG selects....all stock.
The bass is currently NOT active. The preamp has been removed. It is wired like a passive jazz bass. Supposedly this was a popular mod as the preamp from what I've read is a little noisy. It sounds good but is not original obviously.
The bridge appears to have some replacement parts mixed in. It also comes with a few more extra parts. It is currently 100% functional.
No case but will be packed well.
That's it. Check the pics and hit me with questions.
$290 plus shipping.

I take my pictures the same way and by far the hardest part of the process is keeping the reflections out of the shot. Luckily I have long and flexible arms. :D

$290+shipping for a bass that is built as solidly as a rock, plays like a dream, weighs almost nothing, and takes up almost no space (they fit in an overhead bin on a plane).

He didn't buy a 5-string because the 4-string is lousy!

Speaking of that, did you get the yellow/red burst or Walnut Satin? I did the opposite of you: I had a Walnut Satin 5 that I loved, but I sold it to buy a 4 as I am not a 5 guy. I only bought the 5 for the jazz pickups, which I wish there was a 4-string version.

Seriously, I recently bought an actual Steinberger with the intention of selling my B2A, and I just can't bring myself to do it.

Yellow red burst - found it on the GC website - but it wasn't listed as a lefty.
It's got some pot damage thru the cavity so it looks like it will need some surgery but I know some people with a certain set of skills.....
Hopefully have it by monday.
