From what I've heard, the big ones like the one on video are normally made with 3 strings and the 4 strings one could be custom ordered from a manufacturer in St Petersburg, Russia.

The first time I ever saw one of these was in a Russian rockabilly band called the Red Elvises.

I am curious how well they project acoustically comparatively to an upright.
