Rick Bass with Wammy Bar

Post by bobjones2260 »

Just when you think you seen it all, this is from a Left Handed guitar facebook page. Now not actually sure the bass is a Ric as the picture does not show the headstock but none the less worth a view. Has anyone ever had a bass with a Wammy Bar?

Neat. I have never used a whammy bar. I don't even ever use it on a guitar. Maybe if I ever get to Les Claypool-caliber of playing (yeah, right!) I might give it a shot.

Kahler has been making after-market bass whammys - here modeled by The Cars' beautiful Ben Orr in 1984 - for years.

Les Claypool has been playing using whammy bars for quite a while now.

several of his Carl Thompson basses have it

as well as his Pachyderm one

Also Victor Wooten had one in one of his Fodera:

Lee Sklar and Billy Sheehan also had tremolo bars at some point if I'm not mistaken.

When I worked at Guitar Center in Berkeley back in '93, a used lefty Ibanez SR800 with a Kahler bass tremolo came in.

It also had Bartolini pickups which weren't so common back then. It was just such a weird bass all the way around.

I wanted it so bad... but I was broke (I worked at GC... DUH!) and some righty dude came in and bought it FOR THE PARTS. :x
