Jesus Lizard? Never heard of.... Gotta hunt that down.
be warned, they're not for everyone... however I think they're fantastic.

Basically imagine Helmet and Thin Lizzy got together, got really drunk and high and then invited a an alcoholic heroin addict drifter in and told him to imagine he was screaming at his ex-wife and ronald reagan.

David Yow FTF'nW!!!!

p.s. how the heck did I miss this thread when I made that other one?

Just picked up the new Doves release, "Kingdom of Rust". Another perfect recording by this band, IMO.

I picked up a Grails cd and a N.E.R.D. cd on the weekend. I also picked up the recent release of the 70's recorded proto punk band Death, from Detroit. If you like MC5, Stooges type stuff check them out.

Meddle is my favorite Floyd album!

I've been listening to the new Joe Bonamassa disc and Brad Paisley's "Play". My fingers hurt just thinking about it. Man those two can wail!

I love Meddle too, though mostly because Echoes is on it. I usually only listen to One Of These Days and Echoes. My favourite Floyd albums would have to be Wish You Were Here and Animals.

I've been listening to a lot of postrock lately. Dredg, iLiKETRAiNS, Explosions In The Sky, Sigur Ros, God Is An Astronaut, stuff like that. Some of that music is quite depressed (and depressing) so you really need to be in the mood or you may kill yourself  but I love the atmosphere and the melody. Especially the guitar sounds, which are mostly clean(ish) with a beautiful rolling delay (and often two delays behind eachother, with a high number of repeats).

Yay!

I pretty much always have EitS, Mogwai, GY!BE, and Mono in the rotation somewhere. Along with related genres like ambient, neo classical, "noise", minimalism, etc, I'd say it's probably my fave type of stuff to just sit back and really listen Intently to.

Speaking of Rush, years ago I saw a live video of them performing "Limelight" and I was particularly blown away by Geddy's Rick tone. I wasn't sure what show it was from but I recently searched on YouTube to find it and it turns out it was from "Exit Stage Left". :D

It still sounds incredible. Scroll to about 2:00 minutes in to skip the intro stuff:
