Jazz Bass 78 birdseye maple neck/75 body Sonic Blue

Post by paulo »

Okay I've been seriously thinking about it and i came out with a price for this bass.
The price i'm asking for is pretty close to the original cost of all parts together including neck, body, paint, supplies for the prep work and electronics.
$1600 takes this beauty home with the choice of an American Standard pickguard in white or an aged tortoise from WD Music.
Here's once again the topic with details and photos: http://www.leftybassist.com/viewtopic.php?f=2&t=6910
Feel free to send me an offer but i don't want to be very flexible since i'm close to the parts cost.
This bass has the 70's pickup position and it's got the growl. American Standard pots and American Special pickups sound surprisingly awesome in this bass. I will ship the bass with a hard shell case in good shape.

Seriously considering, gotta scrape up some extra cash. At least the exchange rate has improved as of late.

Not meaning to derail, what was the brand and approximate year of the P pup that was in there?

Now you're asking for too much info...
I bought just the body from Small Town Music.

I was the original owner f the bass that the body came from. It was a 1975 Jazz bass that I bought from a guy in Memphis who had done a lot of the questionable work to it. He hacked it up pretty badly. I sold the body on e bay years ago and kept the neck. The P pickup that came with it when I purchased it was an active EMG

Just went back to the original thread, and then went to your flickr site to look at the restoration pics - I've got to say, you and your tech did a hell-of-a job bringing that body back from the hatchet job it was... it's a beauty! Seems like a fair price to me! Best of luck on your sale! :D
R&B Stretch Bass, Walter Woods 1000w Green-Light Stereo Amp, AccuGroove El Whappo and TR112, assorted axes, amps, cabs...

Seriously thinking about switching necks on this bass with a 77 block and rosewood fretboard and this neck will go on a 3 tone sunburst body... So if i do it i will give up selling it.

I like that pairing. I really think baby blue wants a pick guard, though. She seems a bit naked without it. But I guess if you're keeping her then it doesn't matter :)

Here it is completed as of this evening. Completely cleaned the old crap solder off the original 75' harness and works perfectly now with a clean bill of health. Frets were leveled and lots of fret left.
I used a Badass Bass II with Hipshot KickAss bridge saddles and steel guides. This is much better than the original badass and no filing needed.. and adjustable.
The 75 original pickups were rewound by a buddy of mine in Los Angeles to match the 70's specs but a tad hotter. He nailed it!!

The body was refinished black and went back together very well. So its basically a 75/78. Special thanks to those who I got the bass, parts, rewound pups and refinish from. Most of you are on this board. I'll hang onto this one for a while. :)

Only thing I need is a 70's Black Jazz Pickguard. I name all my basses and his name is... "FRANK"
