New Bass Day: Fender ADE Jazz

Post by Matt R. »

What's that old cliche- "fourth time's a charm"?

Earlier this year, I sold my Rickenbacker to help deal with some hand surgery costs. I recovered the funds way quicker than expected, so being newly (and ultimately unnecessarily :x ) Rickenbacker-less, I decided that I would fill that void by trying Fender's American Design Experience yet again by placing a third order for a fourth bass (that'll make sense if you take a look at my post on the last page of this thread: http://www.leftybassist.com/viewtopic.p ... +creations ).

Anyhow, here's my new addition, which is absolutely amazing. Perfect neck. Sounds phenomenal. Beautiful.

I went for a modern Jazz Bass.

Lake placid blue/mint green guard
Alder Body
Maple Board
Vintage '64 Pickups

I could babble about it more, but here are some pix instead.

Awesome! Lake Placid Blue is my favorite, and with a maple fretboard 8-) aww yeah!

I'm glad your hand issue hasn't taken away from your bass playing, both physically and monetarily.

Thanks, I really appreciate that. I had a ganglion cyst on my finger. If you're a musician and you have to have hand surgery, that's the one to have. I'm very lucky and it hasn't affected anything. Very minor in the overall scheme of things. 8-)

Looks fantastic, Matt. :) When did you order it? What was the turnaround time?

90 days, but this time it took a couple weeks less than that for me

Beautiful Matt- it's virtually impossible go wrong with lake placid blue and maple! Hopefully this solves your "Jazz Bass problem" for awhile?

Awesome! How would you describe those '64 pickups?

Hm, they sound great but I can give a better description after I gig with them. Right now I can just say they're a little darker than the custom shop 60s pickups, which are snarly and bright.

Absolutely. The only thing I changed was that I put new pots in. As usual, they put righty pots in but wire them lefty, which is fucking stupid (no taper). But yeah it's pretty much perfect now.

If you'd like a blue '77 4001 to re-add to your collection, let me know...

My bank account would appreciate it if you could not say things like that where I can read it .
