Feeler: Ken Bebensee Deuce six string fretless

Post by penguin »

I am thinking of putting my Ken Bebensee Deuce six string fretless on the block. This has been a fantastic bass since I custom ordered it in the late 90's. A couple of years ago I had Ken do a couple of modifications to it, including shaving the neck thinner on the treble side and making wood pickup covers for the Barts. I am still trying to figure a price, but it will probably be in the high $2k region on up. As some of you know, the wait times for Ken's instruments can be years. It's been quite a while since I've gone over the specs of this bass, but I will list as much as I can recall:

•Woods: Laminated purple heart and I think either cherry or walnut with walnut or cherry back body wings and lacewood front face wings. Ebony fingerboard with no lines

•Dots: Brass side dots including first fret

•Scale length: 35.25"

•Frets: 28

•Tuners: Sperzel locking

•Pickups & Electronics: Bartolini w/ 9v battery

•Bridge: Custom wood bridge with brass tailpiece

•Additional hardware: Black metal knobs and black Jim dunlop straploks

•Nut: Bone(??)

•Truss rods: Two adjustable at the base of the neck

•Weight: Approximately 10.4 lbs

•Strings: Currently strung with La Bella black tapewounds extra long scale with an extra set

•Hardshell case: Brand new Gator Case that fits perfectly

•Other accessories: Leather strap

I started to say, "well, that was fast", until I realized it was listed April 14th of LAST year! Whoever bought it is now the proud owner of a beautifully made bass! Congrats on the sale!
