Stambaugh Butterfly Short Scale 6-String

Post by mattod675 »

Hey friends, I'm selling off my Stambaugh Butterfly 6-string. I really, really enjoy this bass. However, I've played 200+ gigs annually for the past 4 years, and this just isn't required in the same way I had intended when I bought it. I would really like to see it go to someone who can enjoy it on a regular basis. The short scale makes it a really comfortable 6-string. Great clarity and sustain, killer for chords, upper register playing, and covering parts with a small group. There are a few dings in the lower horn from when a tech put something in my case and forgot to take it out before it got loaded. Because of that, I paid $3400 for it, but I'm looking to get $1900 for it. Let's talk about it! I'll be happy to provide more pics upon request.

Specs:

-30" Scale, currently strung to EADGCF, could easily string to B through C with some bridge adjustment.
-Aero pickups
-Bartolini preamp
-Alder body
-Maple/mahogany neck
-Marado top with matching headstock and pickup covers
-Gold hardware
-26 frets (small frets)
-Recessed Dunlop strap locks

Ok, that's definitely up my alley! What's the string spacing at the bridge? Do you have any recordings of it? What's the neck profile like?

Thanks!

String spacing at the bridge is narrow. It was made with the intention of a lot of chord stuff, like Todd Johnson or maybe Oteil.

I'll get a video happening here today, hopefully. I'll also post a few pictures someone had asked for.

Here are some additional pictures that have been requested. Video coming when I figure out a good sound solution. Thanks for the interest so far, guys!

The nicks on the horn I mentioned. I had said dings originally, but I had remembered a little more severe than what's actually there.
