Warwick infinity

Spotted a nice rare Warwick but located in Thailand......

Saw that and as a Warwick enthusiast I was thinking it was sort of high priced and then looked closer at the painted over headstock which has a curiously lumpy look. The back of the headstock looks like it was in a few bar room tussles and could have in issue where the laminates are coming apart.

Other than that it's shaved and oiled up like Arnold Schwarzenegger's butt cheeks in a 70's muscle show which is slightly alarming.

I am a huge "Infinity" fan. I actually love that body cut and that pickup configuration is killer. My German Warwick Darklord had the same config and one of the most versatile basses I owned. Huge!!! Aftermarket brass nut (non-warwick)... hack!!!!

This bass on the other hand.... Yea, its been used for sure. The paint on the face of the headstock ain't so pretty.

That's odd, I've never seen a Warwick with a non-adjustable solid brass nut. I guess maybe it had one of those crappy Just-a-nut II's that easily break, and the previous owner had it replaced with this... The damage to the face of the headstock and that bumpy look is quite odd too, as the faceplate is actually a piece of composite material - plastic, if you will - and is supposed to be matte and not at all glossy like this one appears.

Otherwise that's one fine looking bass, and I bet it sounds killer

I saw this a week or so ago and sent the seller a message. Here's his reply:

"Dear mvanderbyl2

Thank you for your question. I'm a right-handed bassist. This bass belongs to my Lefty bassist. I asked him about the headstock.

He said the bass is old according to the time. It is not damaged or repaired. It looks old so he simply added up some lacquer onto the headstock to refresh the black headstock. Everything is working fine. Perfect sound.

It seems slightly off that a right-handed bassist would have a lefty bassist of his own. I know that, as a lefty bassist, I don't have any right-handed bassists just laying about. Not sure of the rest of my brethren here. Could simply be a language barrier issue in the wording but it seems like the bass doesn't belong to the seller. So I'm not buying the explanation. That headstock looks iffy.

However, I'm with Graves in saying that I love the Ininity body style and a friend of mine in Vancouver has a righty zebrano 4 string Infinity that sounds absolutely killer. If this bass wasn't in Thailand it might be worth digging a little deeper.

I keep about 15 righty bassists chained up in the basement for crimes they've committed against lefty basses.

I just talked to my RIGHTY BassIST and he said don't do it! "beware of great basses far away", "careful what you wish for" I been taken a few times over the lefty years.
